Cartoon shop

shot of the local cartoon shop... I don't enter that buidling because I alway buy a book.. simply can't resist temptation..

Hidden Chapel

In The Hague I passed by a building which first had my interest because it was a historical building. I noticed that the door was open and it appeared to be a chapel. Inside was this beautiful very large icon of the mother of God with child. I light a candle and pondered for a while about all kinds of things. I was struck by it's beauty.

River side

During my lunch break I sometimes go for a walk at the river side behind the office.
All though the weather is really grim, you still see the glory of nature... and man in this case, this shot is of an former salmon fishery.
The salmon is long gone from the Merwede, but the building and ‘this*’ is still present.

* I don't know how to describe what you see in this picture in English... :P

What to eat

I try to pick a diverse selection of pictures of the shots I make during the day
(with my iPhone). These are moments which catch my attention.

I wonder why this scene, the fridge of my sister catch my attetion. I realized because I hardly see a fridge. I have one, but he is mainly empty, or I turn it of because there is nothing to put in it. I don't eat meat, I don't eat or drink milkproducts, and I live alone so what's to put in a fridge...

My sister has a husband who loves to eat and three kids in their growing years... I was amazed by the size of the fridge and the content....:)

Still grey

Shot of the centre of Woerden, with the old army arsenal in the front and the Petrus Church in the back. Unfortunately it is still cold and grey in my part of the world.

Beetle

I saw an old Beetle today. My first car was a Beetle. Unfortunately these cars rust away soo easily in Holland due to the wet weather. So I just drove it for a year... I was a student so I couldn't afford al the work which needed to be done every other month...

Rotterdam Skyline

Coming home from work I had the chance to make a shot of the Rotterdam skyline from the VanBrienenoord bridge over the river Maas. Rotterdam has a very un-Dutch skyline with a lot of flats and skycrapers.

For this posting I did a bit of research where the funny name 'VanBrienenoord bridge' is coming from; VanBrienenoord is the name of an island which is located under the bridge.. Or the bridge is build over the island.

The island was purchased in 1847 by baron Van Brienen. It were three seperate islands but connected by the baron, sinds then the island is called VanBrienenoord. (Place of Van Brienen)

Dom in the Sun

Yesterday there was a lot of sun shine, that makes the city looks extra good..
The Dome tower was lit by the sun this time.

Sign of Spring

It is notable in the air and the nature that spring is coming again! Soo looking forward to it!

Now that's what I call a hairy back, I don't know if a wax will really be of help LOL. I saw this in a hotel in Amsterdam. I don't think it's human...

Art and Books

The bookstore has large paintings in their window. I think they are awesome! Books and art go together very well!

Misty day

I was working alone the day before yesterday, when I took a walk to strech my leggs it seemed the world was very quiet and misty....

Saterday luch

From time to time I am asked to cook for occations (my former profession has been Chef).
This are two pictures of a volounteer lunch. With a friend I bakked bread. In the breads we put all kinds of flavoers. We had a bread with salmon and eggs, Nuts and Italian chees, and one with olives and dried tomatos.
Together with some cream cheese a soup and a salad we created an awsome lunch!
