Boat drawing

Not so long ago we went to a martime museum. It is not really my field of interest but I saw this drawing of a boat. I like the drawing, nice composition and colours.

Alley

Sneakpeak of some saint, I spotted it when I passed an alley. It's part of the formar monastery of Woerden. I pass it everyday but never really see it.

All helping hands

Timon, the son of a friend helped us building up chairs and tables for a meeting. He was able to lift a set of chairs higher then him, well done!

First sun

Ah sun, the first real sun of the new year.. everybody seems to be happy out there.. :)

This is not in Woerden by the way but in Oud Beijerland, that is where my office is located.

Longplaying Plate

A shot of a record cover, we call records LP's which is an abbreviation of 'Longplaying Plate'. I have the old record player of my parents and my fathers record collection.
I am from the time that the CD did his introduction when I started to buy music. So I don't have records of myself, but I have taken an interest in playing records. The only thing is after each 30 min or less you need to turn the record, or put a new one on. Why did they ever called it longplaying..?

This particular record didn't impress me, it is some Belgium folksinger.

Looking good

The mill looked good this morning. The news is official now, it's all over the radio: We have entered spring!

Grass

Grass and stone... During a walk in the centre, I saw a century old wall being attacked by grasses.

To church by bike

The church in front of my house is alway well visited. Since the weather is improving since a day or two they all came by bike this morning..

Bench

During my saturday morning run, I saw this bench. somebody is selling Dahlia sprouts for a Euro.

To be rebuild

To be rebuild..... In old centres it often happens that when a new building is made that the frontal is kept this to keep the historical scene intact. It was funny to see that the curtains were still in the windows..

Arty exhibition

Nice and Arty, and so simple. Somebody rented a gallery and placed jars with little text, pictures and images on several shelves.


The theme is christmas realted, maybe an idea to do this in my town as well.

Exhibition Macedonian (religious) art

This sunday I have been to an exhibition on Macedonian art. It was very beautiful!

Sunday morning

All is quit and peaceful at a sunday morning in Woerden Centre. In an hour the services of the local churches start. So then the streets are full with people for some 15 minutes and all is quit again after that...

Very Dutchy

A very Dutch scene... the woman was looking away, at her cash withdrawel, so I took the chance to quickly take a shot.
These bikes are quite a success, especially when you have kids..

What?

No idea what it means, it's a text on the wall of a restaurant in Tallinn. The language is un-readable, but probably it says something like, 'enjoy your meal' or 'a good meal is worth a good deal of money'

Lightning Candle

I have been to Estonia last weekend, to the capital Tallinn. Very interesting historical place. Close to Russia as well, St. Petersburg is not so far away. I visited some Orthodox Churches; I find the temples fascinating, but I can't really follow/ understand the experience orthodox believers have.
This was in a small church where everybody was getting ready for the sermon. Which includes lightning a candle in front of all present icons.

Morning shot

Shot made in front of my door of the Gereformeerde church and the greyhound mill. It was sunny weather today and it feels like spring is coming soon.

House from 1602

Cities are constantly changing every hundred year a city looks different. Mainly due to simply wearing out or fashion houses are demolished and new ones erected. But sometimes some houses remain for various reasons. This is one of them, from 1602, tucked away between others on a one way street.

Studying the text above the portal the house has been an act of good works..



Mr. Evert van de Poll in his life a lawyer of the country of Utrecht, hating all slackness, founded this workhouse for the ones who rather make their living with work than with slack begging en by this making themselves into his heir 1602.
