Attack on Royal Family

The weather was great and the festivities for Apeldoorn extra special because a historic defilé would be given. If you ever happened to experience Queens day in Holland you know that it's a special day. Everybody was out enjoying the sun the markets, his beer and the bands.
I dropped of at my brothers place to eat an 'orange' bun. And somebody told me there had been some accident. I noticed that some flags were going at half-mast. A very strange site at Queens day, everybody is out and having fun so news go's slow.

But when I finally saw the news the end of the day I was shocked, it has been some kind of murder attempt on the Royal Family, so the offender himself had said. By car, a sick individual hits a crowed with 150 km in the back, who were waving to the bus with the family as it passed by. He did not hit the bus because he himself has been seriously injured. 5 People died and 14 badly injured. Nothing happened to the family so there hasn't been a complete stop on Queens day nation wide.

Having seen the photos and TV I am shocked. It will all sink in today now the festivities are over.

I first saw the news afar at work. I didn't know what was going on because I couldn't read the caption on TV.

Then I went home and looked for videos, and I was horrified by it. It was just horrible...why would a person try to harm other human beings?

I so enjoyed your posts on Queen's Day!
You described so well the fun and the happiness of the holiday, now destroyed by a lunatic with the lives of the dead and the injuried.

My thoughts are with you. I once had a partner from Holland and spent some nice times there. This is a traumatic time for you. Take care ...

I immediately thought about you and your blog when I saw this on the news this morning! It is so tragic and I'm sorry this happened and ruined such a joyous occasion.

Yes, I've been toying with making this post for the past couple of days. The sense of horror which must have swept the Netherlands would have been like that which we in Britain felt when we watched Hillsborough or the 2007 attack on Glasgow Airport in real-time.
