We used to have shops like this when I was growing up, but they are all gone now!

You are right, Marcel.... I am also wandering how could they survive... Just my guess: the older and the more unique the goods (i.e. shoes in the pics)the more expensive they are

I like old shops like this, Marcel. I agree they are probably more expensive than the large chain stores, but here you are dealing with the owner and the service is personal.
