Irritation

In the centre of Woerden a new set of houses have been build. Not that bad actually but I am irritated with the poor skills of the architect, in case of  the 'decoration' above the doors. Could he not think of anything more exciting that the number 2B and 2A above the doors?

Hidden house in Woerden centre

There are a few 'great' historic mantions in Woerden. Build around 1860 somewhere. All but one are visible for the public eye. This one is in the middle of centre hidden behind large trees and greenery. Only in winter you can have a glimpse of the house. A pitty because it would brighten up the centre if it was visible. The owners are very private people..

Trees in the centre

During a late night walk in the centre of Woerden I was struck by the trees. They look strong, dark, scary and evil. But that was just my perception of the moment. In summer they look much different :)

Still grey

Shot of the centre of Woerden, with the old army arsenal in the front and the Petrus Church in the back. Unfortunately it is still cold and grey in my part of the world.

Something new

Something new is being build just around the corner. At the location of the previous St. Joseph school, I think an apartment complex is being build. There is still a lot of building going on. Since there are no new orders to build, the predictions are that when these are finished a lot of people from the building sector will get unemployed.

On the other hand, Holland always have been a country with a lot of bustle and diligence. I don't think things will stop. Unless the bank provide loans of course.. I think that is the issue.

Truck

I live close to a supermarket since it is in the centre of town, the pedestrian area in front of my flat is also used for the truck to deliver foods. Somebody parked his car at that spot, so the truck had to manoeuvre to park. We followed it from the balcony... Things do happen in Woerden!

Concordia

This is the Concordia which is a restaurant in the centre. As long as I know this restaurant feels never having changed since the 70's. When you enter you feel you go through a small 'time warp'. The interior reminds me of the type of restaurants my parents used to take me when I was small.

Whenever I take a look through the windows there doesn't seem to be much activity going on.

28 Signs

I read an announcement of the city council, they denounced the request of a bicycle tour club to place a sign at the entrance of the centre. ‘No’ they sad, ‘it is enough, no more signs’. I took a look yesterday at the location: from the picture I count 28 road signs...... 28! And that are only the ones I count from the picture..

Sunny Day

It has been a sunny day today. We still have a National holiday day because Easter takes 2 days in Holland....:)

It is busy at icecream shop Torino. I never buy icecream there because I find them too greedy, 1 Euro for one small scoop.
