Lucky birds

Introducing to you: my desktop friends at work! They are called orange lucky birds…

Made for the E.K. but since we lost nobody is interested in having them anymore. That was my chance! 

The big one is holding my rings which I take off during the day. 

Apple pie

This weekend I ate an apple pie which was so good! The smell of the pie was so pure and natural that I waited a while just to smell the fine odor of fresh apples and crust.
The taste was awesome, together with real whipped cream it was a perfect combination. I cannot remember that I enjoyed an apple pie that much.

I ate it very slow to enjoy each bit...

It appeared that the apple pie come from the Dudok Grand Café in Rotterdam, delivered every morning fresh... The Grand Cafés of Dudok have a good reputation in The Netherlands.  


One of the wisdoms of life is to always enjoy your cup of coffee, no matter what your situation is. I feel they can add apply pie to it. :)

Holland Hup

A Holland party is not really appropriate anymore (we clearly have not been performing at the EK) but some people are just in for party.

Flag

Somebody did put out the flag yesterday. There are offical rules when you may flag or not. We may do it on days when somebody of the Royal Familie has their birthday. Or when there is a National day. It was neither of both, so somebody was probably just feeling patriotic...

Back from holiday

Aah back from holiday, a relaxing holiday in the Czech Republic. This country is very historic and authentic, a real advise if you don't know where to go to this year :)

But Hollands nice too, I was in Gorinchem last week and saw this very Dutch looking house..

Queens day 2011

I have been on holidays so I am a bit behind placing pictures. This picture is of Queensday, allthough on the 30th of April, it was such a fun day that I have to place a picture on DP. Utrecht also has it's own canal boat festival.


The atmosphere was great on the Utrecht canals.

Very Dutchy

A very Dutch scene... the woman was looking away, at her cash withdrawel, so I took the chance to quickly take a shot.
These bikes are quite a success, especially when you have kids..

Old bike

A sight so familiar I usually don't spot it, but a way this one did.. I call the composition old bike leaning against old houses.

Flag

This blog is from Holland.. :) Somebody put out the flag yesterday. I wonder why, it is not a national flag day, nor the birthday of somebody from the Royal house (then an orange bannar should be attached to it)...

I guess he or she just felt he had to do it...

A Yawner

I took a picture of a 'yawner' in Vianen. A yawner is a stone or wooden head, often depicting a Moor, on the front of a building in the Netherlands. It was used to indicate that this building is a pharmacy.

Chocolate Letter

It's that time of the year that you buy goodies for the night of St Nicolas (the 5th of December). This are letters, usually you get a chocolate letter of the first letter of your name...

Marzipan piggy

I am not into the Sinterklaas celebrations, but I do eat some of the goodies which you can buy. This is a marzipan piggy I endulged in. Sweet marzipan with a little bit of chocolate coating. I ate all and felt guilty....

Tulips at the market

I have been to the market this morning. One stand, I realized is probably very Dutch. A stand only selling tulips bulbs. Selections of dark purple and pink tulip bulbs. Red and yellow, different shapes and sizes. I don't know what it is with tulips. It's one of the national symbols as a flower they are nothing special, still I like them. From time to time I buy a bunch.

A bike

A bike, I had a nearly fatal accident with one of these things when I was a kid, I always remember when I see one.
