Fish shop

Recently Woerden has gotten a fish shop in the center. Fish used to be the dish for poor people but now fish is a costly delicacy. I see 6 people working in this shop, which means they must make a good profit.

Apple pie

This weekend I ate an apple pie which was so good! The smell of the pie was so pure and natural that I waited a while just to smell the fine odor of fresh apples and crust.
The taste was awesome, together with real whipped cream it was a perfect combination. I cannot remember that I enjoyed an apple pie that much.

I ate it very slow to enjoy each bit...

It appeared that the apple pie come from the Dudok Grand Café in Rotterdam, delivered every morning fresh... The Grand Cafés of Dudok have a good reputation in The Netherlands.  


One of the wisdoms of life is to always enjoy your cup of coffee, no matter what your situation is. I feel they can add apply pie to it. :)

Pancake Restaurant

In Bussum is a pancake restaurant which is really a great place to hang out with the family or friends to enjoy the country side and a good quality pancake. With bacon, cheese, apple, ginger, what ever is to your liking.

The chefs were extremly busy making the pancakes, we had to wait one hour for our pancakes. Nevertheless they were very splendid! 

The new food hype

The cupcake is out, the Macaron has arrived. It's the new food hype. Nice, but a little bit over-rated cookie by my opinion.

Selection of wines

A wonderfull selection of flavored wines: Castagne, Poires, Mures, Melon, Cerises, Peche and Noce. The Castagne is very good.

After the dark photo of yesterday I figured this is a good opposing picture. Good food! the colors and temptation just flashed at me when I passed by!

Dessert

The dessert of last weekend was an in red wine, cinnamon and sugar boiled pear. Bon appetite!

Apples and Pears

It's the time of the year that we have fresh apples and pears again. This year has been a good year for these fruits, they are very juicy and tasty. The summer we had was perfect for them and there are many! On the country side you see the trees full with big tempting apples. But eating apples is a virtue I guess.


Note that the farm building is dating from late middle ages. You can see this from the type of stones.

Coffee and a read

Photo of my crossed leg in the lounge area of Hotel New York in Rotterdam. I was to meet a friend for a dinner. Since I was very early I sat in the lounge area and sniffed up the nice atmosphere which seems to be allways present at Hotel New York. If you are ever giving Rotterdam a visit, it is great place for a coffee, lunch or dinner. Make sure to make a reservation though! (and take the water taxi)

A selection of Tartufo

I bought these Tartufo sweets at the Italian Deli.


Three of a kind...


You can play around with the sweets, putting them in all kinds of compositions.


But eventually as a sweet I didn't really liked them... :(

Deli snacks

We joined a Deli walk last saturday. Different local restaurants presented little snacks. We made a mistake however and started with the dessert and ended with the starter..


This was an apple crumble with yoghert icecream.. .always a success!
