Jewish cemetery

During jogging I peeped over the fence of the Jewish cemetery. Before the war there was a small Jewish community in Woerden, really small, but big enough to have a butcher. I live in the area of Woerden where most Jews lived. Some of the houses are known to have been Jewish property. The cemetery is proof there was a community in Woerden. It's funny, this cemetery is in the center of town, but for some reason we are hardly aware that it's there.

Sitting...

I always thought it to be a lonely sad monument, since I know what it stands for I know why. At times a rabbi and some followers gather to do commemoration services there.

Jewish Monument/ Memorial

Opposite my house is a ceramic 'statue' of a lonely man with his dog. I noticed it is a bit sad work of art. I took the time to investigate what it stands for. It appeared to be a Jewish memorial. It has a sad story, read more about it at my own blog.
