Guesthouse chapel

A picture of a building what looks like a medeival church. The plate of the department of monuments confirmed it. It jused to be a 'Guesthouse chapel'. A 15th century prayer house for the sick and travelars. During the Reformatieon in the 16th century a chapel for the Catholic worship. In the 18th century a place of gathering for the French Wallonic community. After the abolishment in 1822 it became a storehouse. Since 1960 part of the cityhall...

I keep find it amazing, 600 years of history....

Fish stand

On Saturdays there is a fish stand at the central square. Never the less I am not tempted. Though it can taste nice, I hardly eat fish..

The arrogant frog

I have a tip today; lately I have been given a splendid bottle of wine. A wonderful wine!

The etiquette and name caught my attention 'Arrogant Frog. After some research on the internet 'arrogant frog' is a nickname of the English. Arrogant because it's a characteristic of the people of France and frog because they eat frog legs.. :)

Mill view

Another shot of the Greyhound Mill just besides my house, I keep enjoying the view everytime I walk by. It has been build on the remains on one of the former defence tower of Woerden.

Utrecht Amsterdam Haarlem

I like this kind of 'advertisement'; an artshop has the names of the bigger cities of Holland displayed. I feel when you are a shop in a provincial town stay local and don't put Tokio or New York there.


Or maybe they really have shops in these cities, I don't know....

A Yawner

I took a picture of a 'yawner' in Vianen. A yawner is a stone or wooden head, often depicting a Moor, on the front of a building in the Netherlands. It was used to indicate that this building is a pharmacy.


The building is now a traveling agency
