Interior

Inside the church, a service had just finished and some people are still enjoying the coffee. It is a tipical Dutch Reformed church interior; white and empty with some bible texts on the walls.

I know the church interior is "plain" white and empty, and I know I am Greek Orthodox, but I love this kind of church! The large, luminous windows, the bare white walls and stark wooden benches and pulpit, have a feeling of peace about them, of the eternal emptiness of God, so empty in fact, that it gives us room to exist in His presence.

Sometimes, the cluttered and beautiful interior of an Orthodox church just gets to be too much for me, and I long for the feeling of spaciousness that accompanies the wonderful hymn, "O love, how deep, how broad, how high".

That's what this church interior reminds me of.
